Podcamp Toronto 2009 Evening Meetups

With so many folks attending Podcamp Toronto 2009, there are lots of opportunities to find some informal time to chat over dinner and/or drinks. Feel free to add your suggestions here, and consult the Podcamp Toronto 2009 Map for restaurant and bar ideas.

Friday, February 20

  • Informal meet-up at the Imperial PUBlic Library - UPSTAIRS (unofficial homebase of Toronto podcasters) -- probably 7-ish 'til whenever-ish. Note that there's not too much in the way of food at the Library, so you may want to grab a bite beforehand.
  • Kultura with Crosby. (Kultura, 169 King St. E.) Connie would like to introduce Torontonians and visitors to the fabulous Kultura, one of her most favourite restaurants. It is not inexpensive, but sure to delight. She has a reservation for 6 pm, so please email her to reserve your spot! conniecrosby@gmail.com
  • South Indian Thali with Rob Lee & Katherine Matthews. (Udupi Palace, 1460 Gerrard Street E.) Jay may like wings, but we like food from South Asia. If you're up to going a bit further afield, we'll be trying out the Thali (a platter full of food) at Udupi Palace (our first visit there, but it's been recommended) -- we're planning on being there around 6pm, if you want to join us just show up as we're not making a reservation (unless we hear from a ton of people that they're coming...).

Getting there by public transit: Walk north to Carlton Street and take the eastbound 506 streetcar ("The Red Rocket") -- it will swing south to take you along Gerrard Street. The restaurant is a couple of blocks before the streetcar turns again at Coxwell Avenue.

  • Grab Dinner at The Ram! Ryerson pub the Ram in the Rye has a full menu just steps from the Rogers Communications Centre. Why not grab dinner there?

  • Add Your Lunch (ideally with a link to the location) Since Podcamp Toronto ends at 1:15 pm on Sunday, why not plan to meet with folks for lunch after the event?
  • My sister, @Sarah_McGaughey is promoting Rockin’ The Cradle a series of Indie Rock Concerts at the Tranzac Club on the Last Sunday of the Month for families and their young children. This month’s concert on February 22 from 1-3 pm at the Tranzac Club (292 Brunswick Avenue) features Bry Webb from the Constantines and a group called Positive Thinking Seminar Join Sean McGaughey, his family and others for this wonderful Pay what you can event.

*@40deuce can't party Saturday night so why not have lunch with Sheldon instead??? If you like OK food, mediocre conversation and beer from a tap then you should come to the Jack Astors at Yonge and Dundas (around the corner from Ryerson) This is not going to be anything super formal. I'm hoping to just show up there and grab a large table after camp on sunday afternoon. But, if I hear a lot of people are interested in joining me (my ego has a sense of humor), I'll call ahead and make a reservation, so let me know if you're interested.
